Ripple Credenza
In my work, a simple idea or moment of inspiration is the soul of each piece. For this cabinet, that moment came during a walk along the beach where I noticed how light played on the ripples in the sand. From there, one question guided me through the early stages: How can I use light, shadow and form to create subtle movement in a piece of furniture?
This movement, impossible to capture in still photography, was achieved by using twisted slats in a repetitive pattern. As you move past the cabinet, the apex of each twist shifts up or down, depending on your perspective...
